Green councillors win refurbishment for temporary accommodation

The hostel on Tooting Bec Gardens will be refurbished following concerns raised by the
St Leonard’s Green councillors.

Residents of the temporary accommodation had reported general disrepair of the hostel
as well as rodent infestations, damp and sewage on the ground floor. Some had also
requested to move due to reported drug use at the properties.

Green Party councillors took the Council’s Chief Executive to visit the hostel in December
last year to highlight the poor living conditions and the desperate need for refurbishment.

In a decision published on 5th August 2019 the Council announced they would “undertake
the partial external and internal refurbishment works to 10-22 Tooting Bec Gardens”.
