As Lambeth council implements its programme of cuts, it is neglecting Streatham's pavements and roads. It has reduced the amount of road inspections carried out, it has reduced response times and has even changed the definition of a pothole so it doesn't have to fill so many in. This is despite evidence that dealing with potholes early actually saves money.
Lambeth Green Party has therefore set up its own regular inspections of local roads and pavements in Streatham, reporting defects, potholes, obstacles, graffiti and other issues that need the council's attention. We are reporting them on this blog, as well as the progress that we make.
