Lambeth Council is asking for people's views on the future development of Streatham High Road and Streatham Hill - but be quick as the consultation ends on August 23rd!
A draft stategy published at the end of June was due to close for consultation on 9 August - after just six weeks, until local Green Party councillor Nicole Griffiths raised concerns that this didn't give time for word to spread - especially during the holiday period. Lambeth Council have extended the deadline - but only by a further two weeks.
The draft strategy contains a proposal for significant change in the way Streatham High Road is used with shops concentrated in a much a shorter stretch between Kingscourt Rd and St Leonard's Church. Most of Streatham Hill would lose its current status as a primary shopping area, except for a small section around the new Marks and Spencer.
Cllr Griffiths said: "This is still a very scant consultation period on a proposal that has huge potential implications for small busiesses and local residents. I urge everyone to look at the plans and have their say."
