Thames Water short-changing residents on compensation

Jonathan Bartley and Scott Ainslie distributing water in March
People in Streatham whose water supply was cut off for four days in March are being sent compensation of just £30 - just a fraction of the £150 they are entitled to [1].

Newly-elected Green Party councillors for St Leonard's ward Scott Ainslie, Jonathan Bartley and Nicole Griffiths are challenging the company on this. Meanwhile, they are urging anyone affected to write to Thames Water using the following template:

Dear Sir,

Re: Incident Reference: “NORWOOD 30” : Compensation Offer

Thankyou for your letter of 27th March last, offering £ 30 compensation for failure of water supplies to the above address.

I have checked the Thames Water official website on the subject of compensation where it is stated that the compensation due for supply failure of 48 hours or more is £ 150.00.

As water was not supplied to this property for over 48 hours, as has been well documented in news reports and can be witnessed by up to 27,000 other customers, could you please comply with the above mentioned statement on the official Thames Water website and send a cheque for £150.00, upon receipt of which I will consider the matter closed.

Yours Faithfully,
